Every piece of jewellery starts with an inspiration, an idea, before the design is first brought to life on paper with a drawing. Not only are these a glimpse into the beauty of the piece to be created, but they serve as an important reference point for every person involved in the creation process. L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelery Arts, launched a research project in 2018 into this rarely addressed topic, developed a course and organizes a first exhibition from the 14th of October 2021 to the 14th of February 2022.
The works exhibited and shown to the public for the first time, date back to the 1760s, include 19th century drawings, and end with the First World War. They were produced by myriad well-known as well as anonymous designers and artists and illustrate a diversity of techniques and uses, ranging from a few pencil lines to detailed and colourful works of art. The exhibition allows visitors to discover the space of jewellery drawing, bridging technical tool and a piece of art in itself.More information
