From passion to profession

  • • Wooden handbags are Adolf’s signature products
  • • The first one was a birthday present for his wife
  • • An Austrian minister uses one of his wooden pens

Adolf List trained as a traditional carpenter in order to take over his father’s workshop in the heart of the Bohemian Forest, the triangle where Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic meet. His home village was surrounded by woodland, which led to his passion for different kinds of fine wood. After many years as a joiner dealing with furniture and interior constructions, Adolf decided to reposition his work to focus on what he really loves: making the most of the character of a piece of wood. The precious results of his techniques – turning, inlaying and surface finishing – are valuable wooden items including handbags, writing instruments, belt buckles and cases.
